MMA for Teens in Tbilisi — Mixed Martial Arts Ages 10-16 | Gymnasia Sports Academy

MMA for Teens at Gymnasia (Ages 10-16)

Mixed Martial Arts is the most complete combat sport in the world — and the fastest-growing sport among young people. At Gymnasia in Tbilisi, teens ages 10-16 learn to combine striking and grappling into a unified system of self-defense and athletic excellence. MMA develops versatile, confident, disciplined young people who know how to handle themselves in any situation.

Why MMA for Your Teen?

  • Complete self-defense: Unlike single-discipline arts, MMA teaches your teen to defend themselves standing and on the ground — the most practical self-defense education possible
  • Mental toughness: MMA training pushes comfort zones and builds the resilience teens need to face school, social pressure, and life's challenges
  • Physical transformation: Striking, grappling, and conditioning combine to build strength, speed, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness unlike any other sport
  • Discipline & humility: Training with experienced coaches and diverse partners teaches respect, patience, and the understanding that there is always more to learn
  • Channel for energy: For teens with excess energy or frustration, MMA provides a structured, healthy outlet that builds rather than destroys

Parents Ask Us

Is MMA safe for my teenager?

Yes. Teen MMA at Gymnasia is structured martial arts education, not fighting. Beginners spend weeks learning technique before any partner work. Sparring is only for experienced students with full protective equipment and close supervision. Our coaches prioritize safety above all.

What age can my teen start MMA?

Our MMA program starts from age 10. For younger children, we recommend building a foundation in a single discipline first — Judo, BJJ, Karate, or Boxing.

Does my teen need previous martial arts experience?

No. While many of our MMA students come from backgrounds in judo, BJJ, or karate, complete beginners are welcome. The program teaches all fundamentals from the ground up.

What should my teen wear/bring?

Comfortable sportswear for the first class. For regular training: MMA gloves or boxing gloves, mouthguard, shin guards. Equipment available at krivi.ge. We provide gear for trial classes.

How will MMA help with school performance?

MMA develops intense focus, emotional regulation, and self-discipline. Teens who train regularly report improved concentration at school, better stress management, and increased confidence in social situations.

Will my teen become aggressive?

The opposite. MMA training teaches controlled aggression — the ability to channel energy productively. Teens who train martial arts consistently show decreased aggressive behavior because they learn respect, self-control, and the understanding that real strength means restraint.

Can I watch the class?

Yes. We have a parent viewing area where you can observe every session.

Can my teen also train in other sports?

Absolutely. Many MMA students cross-train in BJJ, Boxing, Kickboxing, or Judo to deepen specific skills.
