Known as the "Art of Eight Limbs," Muay Thai is the most versatile striking martial art on the planet — using fists, elbows, knees, and shins as weapons across every range of stand-up combat. At Gymnasia in Tbilisi, our Muay Thai program teaches authentic Thai boxing technique rooted in the traditions of Thailand, delivered in a modern training environment with experienced coaches who develop fighters and fitness enthusiasts alike.
A Muay Thai class at Gymnasia runs 60 to 90 minutes. The session opens with a traditional warm-up — skipping rope, shadow boxing, and movement drills. The coach then teaches the technique of the day: this could be a specific kick combination, elbow strikes, clinch entries, or defensive footwork. You will work techniques on heavy bags, then partner up for pad rounds where your partner holds Thai pads while you throw combinations. The class may include clinch work and controlled sparring for more experienced students. The session ends with conditioning work (bodyweight circuits or core exercises) and stretching. Wear comfortable shorts and a t-shirt or rash guard. Gloves and wraps are available for your first class.
Our Muay Thai program is led by experienced coaches who bring competition-level expertise to every class.
Gymnasia's Muay Thai training area at Lisi features heavy bags suited for kicks and knees, Thai pads for partner drills, a boxing ring for sparring, and ample open floor space. The facility supports the full range of Muay Thai training from technique drills to full sparring rounds.

Yes. Muay Thai at Gymnasia is taught progressively — beginners start with basic stance, simple kicks and punches, and gradually build toward more complex combinations and clinch techniques. No prior martial arts experience is needed. Our coaches ensure everyone trains safely at their own level.
Muay Thai shorts (or regular athletic shorts) and a t-shirt or rash guard. No shoes — Muay Thai is practiced barefoot. Hand wraps and boxing gloves are recommended — available at krivi.ge. For your trial class, equipment is provided.
For beginners, 2 to 3 sessions per week is ideal. Intermediate practitioners benefit from 3 to 4 sessions. Competitive Muay Thai fighters train 5 to 6 days per week. Consistency is more important than intensity at the beginning.
For your trial class, everything is provided. For regular training, you will need hand wraps, boxing gloves (or Muay Thai gloves), and eventually shin guards for sparring. Muay Thai shorts are traditional but not mandatory. All equipment is available at krivi.ge.
Muay Thai training at Gymnasia prioritizes technique and control. Beginners do pad work and bag work exclusively — no sparring until the coach determines you are ready. Sparring is always controlled, supervised, and done with full protective gear. Proper shin conditioning develops gradually through bag work.
Yes. Gymnasia supports competitive Muay Thai fighters with fight preparation and strategic coaching. If you are interested in fighting, our coaches will assess your readiness and build a development pathway for you.
Our adult Muay Thai program is open to anyone 16 and older. All fitness levels are welcome — the training adapts to you.
Muay Thai uses eight points of contact — fists, elbows, knees, and shins — while kickboxing primarily uses fists and feet. The biggest differences are Muay Thai's devastating elbow strikes, knee techniques, and the clinch (standing grappling), which is a central part of Thai boxing but largely absent from kickboxing. Muay Thai also tends to use a more upright stance and different rhythm than Western kickboxing.
Muay Thai at Gymnasia will forge you into a more powerful, disciplined, and confident version of yourself. The Art of Eight Limbs is waiting for you — and your first class is free. Come train with us and discover what your body is truly capable of.
