The Gymnasia Advantage: Judo + BJJ Combo

Our BJJ students also train in Judo classes, mastering the standup game — throws, takedowns, and breakfalls. This combination creates exceptionally well-rounded grapplers who are confident on their feet and on the ground. Very few academies offer this integrated approach.

Parents Ask Us

Is BJJ safe for my child?

BJJ is one of the safest martial arts for children. There is no striking involved. Training focuses on positions, control, and technique on soft tatami mats. Younger children practice playful grappling without submissions. All sparring is closely supervised by experienced coaches.

What age can my child start BJJ?

Our program starts from age 5. For younger children, we recommend Jungle Gym or Baby Gym to build foundational movement skills.

Does my child need previous experience?

Not at all. Most of our students start as complete beginners. Coaches adapt every session to each child's level.

What should my child wear/bring?

A BJJ gi (kimono) for regular classes. For no-gi sessions on Wednesdays, a rash guard and shorts. You can purchase gear at krivi.ge. For the first trial class, comfortable sportswear is perfectly fine.

How will BJJ help with school performance?

BJJ develops focus, patience, and the ability to work through frustration — exactly the skills children need in the classroom. Many parents report improved concentration and self-discipline at school after their children start training.

Will my child get hurt?

BJJ is specifically designed to be trained safely. There is no striking, and all sparring is supervised. Younger children do positional grappling without submissions. Minor bumps and bruises can happen as in any physical activity, but serious injuries are very rare.

Can I watch the class?

Yes! We have a parent viewing area where you can observe every session.

Does my child also learn Judo?

Yes! Our BJJ students attend Judo classes to develop standup grappling skills, creating the most complete martial arts education in Tbilisi.

Can my child try multiple sports?

Absolutely. Many of our athletes combine BJJ with Judo, Karate, or other Sports Academy programs.
